No Limits Pilot Creative Training Programme
Programme Introduction
The No Limits Pilot Creative Training Programme offers local teaching artist hands-on experience of incorporating inclusive practice into the classroom. The programme is designed to support local teachers at different stages of their professional journey and help towards nurturing a new generation of inclusive arts talent, driving the long-term development of inclusive practice in Hong Kong, and embedding inclusive arts practices more sustainably in the local community.
In September and October 2025, the programme is conducted in collaboration with Candoco Dance Company, a world-leading, professional inclusive dance organisation based in the UK. The programme introduces two distinct training pathways: a fundamental course tailored for teaching artists with 0–2 years of experience, and an advanced course for more experienced teaching artists.
Both courses integrate theory and practice, improvisational techniques, inclusive choreography and lesson plan design. Exploring new pedagogical approaches, participants gain the improvisational tools to work with disabled and non-disabled students. They learn how to develop and adapt teaching plans to their specific classroom needs, and the courses provide opportunities for people with disabilities to learn performing arts skills at local community centres.
The fundamental course is tailored for teaching artists with 0–2 years of experience teaching dance or theatre. Participants delve into the “how to teach” of inclusive teaching – developing practical tools for lesson planning and responding to diverse classroom needs. After the training, teachers are offered hands-on experience working with people with disabilities at a local community centre, and work with their students to co-create community showcases* about their experience.
The advanced course is designed for experienced teaching artists with three or more years of practice teaching dance or theatre. It invites participants to reflect deeply on their teaching journeys and engage with the question of “why we teach”. Through expanded methodologies, the course supports the creation of inclusive classrooms that are imaginative, reflective and artistically grounded.
*The showcases are presented to the public as part of the Jockey Club “No Limits” Education and Community Programme: Community Showcases at Tai Kwun in January and March 2026.
